WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO Mexico Cruises Insider
A cruise to Mexico is filled with exciting destinations, each with its own style and vibe. MUSA stands for Underwater Museum of Art, located in the National Marine Park of Cancun and Isle Mujeres. All the sculptures underwater promote coral life and are devoted to the art of conservation.

Best Mexico Ancient Ruins and Mayan Sites
Carnival’s Western Caribbean cruises last from four to eight nights and leave from Miami, Florida; Mobile, Alabama; Tampa, Florida; New Orleans, Louisiana; Galveston, Texas; and Port Canaveral, Florida. If visiting Cancun is your main goal of the cruise, you can find four-night cruises whose only port of call is Cozumel. Cancun and Playa del Carmen are both accessible from the port at Calica, but Carnival dropped Calica as a port of call when they pulled Elation out of Mobile a few years ago. He mentioned that it is not visually appealing and there are better options (presumably Cozumel, Costa Maya and Progreso) for cruise passengers in the Yucatan. I brought this question up a few years ago when I was working as a travel agent and saw a full ship charter with Cancun as a port of call. The reason I was given was that Cancun does not have a pier and the water immediately off shore is very shallow.

CRUISES FROM CANCUN
With all the good beach front in the hotel zone taken up by well...hotels (ha ha) I'm thinking we wouldn't be too interested in a Cancun destination unless Carnival buys out some property and makes a good beach destination. The Nichupte Lagoon (that's probably spelled wrong) has some neat tours. We did a twister ride and then took mini boats out of the Lagoon into the Caribbean and snorkeled on the reef. Playa Del Carmen has ruins close by and some great activities such as Xcaret and Xplor so would also make an interesting cruise destination.
